Step 1: Launch [MULTI] WinAlign 2010

To launch [MULTI] WinAlign 2010, you need to locate the WinAlign.exe file on your computer. Depending on your Windows version and installation path, you can find it in one of the following folders:

  • Windows 32bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SDL\T2007\TT

  • Windows 64bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL\T2007\TT

Double-click on the WinAlign.exe file to open the application. You can also create a shortcut to the WinAlign executable on your desktop for faster access.

Step 2: Create a New Project

Once you have opened [MULTI] WinAlign 2010, you need to create a new project. To do so, click on the File menu and select New Project. A dialog box will appear where you can enter the project name, source language, target language, and project folder. You can also choose whether to create a new translation memory or use an existing one.

For example, if you want to align two documents in English and Spanish, you can enter the following information:

  • Project name: EN-ES Alignment

  • Source language: English

  • Target language: Spanish

  • Project folder: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\EN-ES Alignment

  • Create new translation memory: Yes

Click OK to create the project.

Step 3: Add Files to the Project

The next step is to add the files that you want to align to the project. To do so, click on the Add Files button on the toolbar. A dialog box will appear where you can browse and select the files from your computer. You can add files in any format supported by SDL Trados Studio, such as Word, PDF, HTML, etc.

You need to add at least one file for each language. You can also add multiple files for each language if they belong to the same document or topic. [MULTI] WinAlign 2010 will automatically pair the files based on their names and extensions. You can also manually pair or unpair the files by right-clicking on them and selecting Pair or Unpair.

For example, if you have two files named Manual_EN.docx and Manual_ES.docx in your project folder, [MULTI] WinAlign 2010 will pair them automatically. If you have more files with different names or extensions, you can drag and drop them to pair them manually.

Step 4: Align the Files

The final step is to align the files and generate the translation memory. To do so, click on the Align button on the toolbar. A dialog box will appear where you can choose the alignment options and settings. You can adjust the following parameters:

  • Alignment method: Choose between automatic or interactive alignment. Automatic alignment will align the files without user intervention, while interactive alignment will allow you to review and edit the alignment results.

  • Alignment level: Choose between paragraph or sentence level alignment. Paragraph level alignment will align whole paragraphs of text, while sentence level alignment will align individual sentences within paragraphs.

Alignment quality: Choose between fast or accurate alignment. Fast alignment will align the files quickly but may produce less accurate results, while accurate alignment will align the files more precisely but may take longer. 0efd9a6b88
